I know because I have been there, done that, got a t-shirt and it doesn’t fit any more.
I see how you watch everything you put in your mouth; how you beat yourself up when you miss to make it to the gym; how you eat badly if only you could put on the weight.
You try to hide it because you don’t want it to be too obvious; too obvious that you actually have issues.
I see how you compare yourself to the cover girls. Those airbrushed into perfection. Standards that even they cannot attain in their daily lives.
You don’t feel pretty enough. And yes, beauty is a thing that the world has put on a pedestal and so you think you are lacking in something. And that somehow dims the light on everything else about you.
True, people will judge you first, based on how you look, but they also more often than not go ahead to hear what you have to say, so don’t let the outward appearance dictate your whole being.
How I dealt with my insecurities? I decided that:
1. I am fearfully and wonderfully made by the all time greatest artist, God and that is the report I will choose to believe.
2. Beauty does lie in the eye of the beholder and as the beholder of myself, I am beautiful by my standards and so if you don’t find me beautiful, well then, that is your problem, not mine, right?
I know I seem to be simplify this issue yet it is quite deep rooted because you have felt this way all your life, but at times in life, you making the decision about something can be the most important and difficult step to take.
Making the decision that no one else will decide for you what and how to feel but yourself, and if you believe in God, then it’s between you and God because God always has your best interests at heart 🙂
If no one has said it yet today, let me be the first, you are beautiful; heck you are drop dead gorgeous and as long as you believe it, then that’s all that matters!
And here’s a dedication to keep you smiling
